Since 2009 Senior Adviser to HM Treasury on financial stability; Non-Executive Director of LIFFE (the main London derivatives exchange); Honorary Visiting Professor at the Cass Business School, London and a Governor of a major UK public school (King’s College School in SW London).

Formerly Member of the Bank of England‘s Financial Policy Committee (2011-2013), Executive Director and Adviser to the Governor of the Bank of England; member of the Bank’s senior executive group (1997-2007), focussing mainly on issues relating to financial structure, regulation and stability.

UK Alternate Executive Director at the IMF, Washington DC (1983-1985) and member of many international groups linked to the G20, the Financial Stability Forum (now Board) and the BIS.
